What is the Durness Dial-a-Bus?

Dial-a-bus is a service where you can phone up in advance and ask for a lift. The service is run with a small bus. Dial-a-bus is offered in an area with no public bus service. It applies if you need to make a journey within a certain area (see map above) and time period. It does not follow a fixed route or timetable.

Who can use it?

Any member of the public can use our service to travel for any reason within our operating area.

Where can I travel using the Dial-a-Bus?

The service covers the area bordered by Keodale, Balnakeil and Laid and will extend to Kinlochbervie and also to Tongue to meet the 803 service to Thurso every Tuesday and Thursday.

When can I travel?

Dial-a-bus is available Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:30.

How do I book the Durness Dial-a-Bus?

To book your journey you can download the free Moove Flexi app from iOS and Android app stores which allows you 24/7 access to book and amend your travel. Once booked, you can track your bus on the in-app map and receive updates about your journey.

Phone bookings are also available. Please phone or text The Durness Bus Ltd on 07782110007 or 07931381723 at any time before 8pm on the day before you travel. Sometimes later bookings may be possible. You will need to say when you want to travel and give your phone number. If you have a fixed appointment, you can book Dial-a-bus many weeks before you travel.

What is the fare for using the service?

The fare will be similar to an ordinary bus fare. Free concessionary travel is available to anyone in the Scotland-wide Free Bus Travel Scheme.
